This course teaches beginner practices and techniques for dancers and educators wishing to learn more about the screendance genre. Throughout the semester, you will develop an understanding of the history of screendance as well as gain the basic skills needed to make a short dance film. From idea conception to choreography, camera angles, editing, navigating film festivals, and more, you will receive hands-on experience as you work to execute your screendance vision with the help of your class peers and instructor. This course will serve as an introduction to screendance filmmaking, give you a well-rounded understanding of both dance and filmmaking, and foster an appreciation for this growing art form.
