How NDEO Disseminates & Supports Research

DELRdi - Dance Education Literature and Research descriptive index is an index of literature and research from 1926 to the present that informs teaching, learning, and future directions of research in the field of dance education. It contains extensive descriptions of several thousand literary works including theses, dissertations, journal articles, conference proceedings and other documents from over 200+ different publications, more than 150 university dance programs, many organizations, government agencies, and individuals.

Introduction to Dance Education Research - Online Course

In Spring 2024, NDEO is offering OPDI 105: An Introduction to Dance Education Research through our Online Professional Development Institute. This course provides a survey of current research paradigms in dance education inquiry with particular emphasis on research process, design, methodology, and pedagogical implications for dance teaching and curriculum.

National Conference

NDEO’s National Conference is the largest member-driven dance education conference in the United States, featuring more than 250 presentations given over three session days. Presenters from the NDEO membership share theoretical and practice-based research through a variety of formats, including workshops, movement classes, and paper, poster, or panel presentations. Each spring, we invite presentation proposals related to the Conference theme. Dance education professionals from every sector are invited to submit a proposal. Proposals are reviewed by a panel of adjudicators from the membership. The 2023 National Conference will be held from Sept. 28-Oct. 1, 2023 in Denver, Co. Dance Education in Practice

Dance Education in Practice “considers articles for publication focused on practical approaches to dance education and teaching that provide educators with models of new ideas, strategies, and content they can apply to their own practice. Targeted toward dance studio teachers, P-12 dance educators, postsecondary teacher education professionals, teaching artists, and dance education undergraduate and graduate students, the journal welcomes contributions that may include cross-curricular projects, standards-based models of teaching and learning, innovations in teaching technique, technological applications to dance teaching, addressing equity issues in dance, assessment strategies, addressing needs of diverse learners through dance, professional issues, and advocacy. Journal of Dance Education

The Journal of Dance Education “publishes original articles on topics related to the practical and theoretical aspects associated with dance education. Articles considered for publication in the journal should emphasize professional issues concerned with all aspects of teaching dance and dance education. JoDE aims to present new knowledge and rigorous scholarship about perennial and current issues in order to improve the quality and integrity of dance teaching and learning” (2022, n.p.).
