NDEO Blog Submission

NDEO's Dance Education Blog features updates on NDEO's programs and reflections from NDEO leadership on the world of dance education. NDEO members are also invited to contribute by submitting to the Guest Blog Series, which features posts written by members.

NDEO's Guest Blog Series

NDEO's Guest Blog Series provides NDEO members with an opportunity to have short articles published on NDEO's official blog.

Interested bloggers may submit posts on any topic directly related to dance education or connected fields, such as arts administration, studio or program management, somatics, dance science, etc. Past guest blog posts have spanned a range of topics, including:

  • research and teaching practices in higher education
  • dance technology
  • activities for preschool movement classes
  • strategies for teaching students with special needs
  • developing and refining your personal pedagogy
  • reflections on personal experience in dance and dance education
  • global movement practices

Member Benefit - Opportunity to be a Guest Blogger

This program is a member benefit, and bloggers must be NDEO members to be featured. Please fill out the  in its entirety to be considered for the program. You will need to submit a copy of the post in Microsoft Word (preferred) or PDF format, a bio of no more than 200 words, and at least two photos (a headshot and at least one action photo) with photo release and photographer credit information.

Interested writers are encouraged to visit the blog to get a sense of the scope of topics that have been covered. In addition, please take note of the following information:

  • The primary audience for the blog is NDEO members, although the blog is viewable by non-members on the NDEO website as well as on NDEO social media accounts.
  • All authors must be current NDEO members at the time of submission and publication. Please note that we often receive a high volume of submissions, and publication can take several months.
  • Articles should be no more than 1,000 words, unless approved by the blog administrator.
  • Articles should not have been previously published on any national platform, to include other nationally-recognized blogs, magazines, journals, etc.
  • In some cases, NDEO will consider publication of articles that have previously appeared in community or state-wide publications, or smaller online platforms such as personal blogs.
  • Articles directly advertising a program, service, or product will not be considered. Programs, services, or products may be mentioned within the piece when relevant, but the primary focus of the post must be sharing knowledge and information with the dance education community. NDEO does not endorse any program, service, or product mentioned in guest blog posts.
  • Articles will be reviewed and approved for publication by NDEO staff. In many cases, revisions will be recommended, and articles will be accepted only if these recommended changes are made. NDEO reserves the right to deny publication of articles for any reason.
