Affinity Group for Black Dance Educators
September 27, 2022
Reminder: Times are all EDT/EST
Black and African American NDEO members from all sectors, environments, and interest areas are invited to come together to discuss any issues or topics that feel relevant to you and/or your teaching practice.
Although allyship and solidarity are valued and appreciated, this meeting is intended for NDEO members who identify as Black or African American in order to build community among those members. This is not an educational event for allies and non-Black individuals. In order to ensure that this Affinity Space remains a place for its members to share openly about their experiences, please do not register for this meeting if you are not Black or African American.
If you have a specific topic of discussion, please indicate that on your registration so that moderators can consider it in the framing of the conversations.
What are Affinity Groups?
Affinity Groups are positioned around groups of people who have experienced historical discrimination including, but not exclusive to racist, sexist, xenophobic or able-bodied stereotypes, systemic bias such as housing, access to healthcare, and education, and other forms of livelihood and employment discrimination, and violence. Affinity Groups must respect the humanity of all people, regardless of their age, gender, gender expression, sex, national origin, documentation status, ability, color, class, source of income, religion, ethnicity, race or sexuality. The purpose of the Affinity Groups is to come together to share experiences and work towards equal participation and rights in society.
